A HELPING HAND IN NEED - Lakshyam NGO

“If you knew what I know about the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way.”
―Buddha

An old saying of Buddha fits aptly in the current scenarios. When the Factories and industries closed, public transport hardly running, work from home is the new trend, and people sitting at homes to protect themselves. The most affected strata of society are the ‘Daily Wagers’ who can only earn bread if they go out and work. The need of the hour is to protect and safeguard their interest. The need is to help each other and be together.

In lieu of the present events, NGO Lakshyam initiated its campaign ‘कोरोना से करुणा।।‘(Corona to Compassion) where the focus is to provide the not-so-privileged section of the society with ration kits to sustain them. The target is to reach 1500+ families across pan India of which 1200+ families and around 4000+ beneficiaries. We are proud to foretell so far distribution drives have happened across Delhi-NCR areas like Sindhi Basti and Israeli Camp in Vasant Kunj, Shakur Bast near Shivaji Park, Transport Nagar, Arthala, Shamsher Village, Krishna Vihar, Tulsi Niketan, Gagan Vihar Slums, in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Ranchi, Jharkhand, Umri and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and many more to be reached. The drives have been supported by Zomato Feeding India, YII of CII, Safa NGO and individual donors like Neena Khandhari, Ramon Llamba, Nazm Singh, Seema Bhargava, Sudeshna Mazumdar, J.P.Khaitan, Sunil Singhal, Arvind Chugh, and J.K. Tejwani. The distribution happened while bearing in mind all the procedures and safety measures like using masks, maintaining distance, using sanitizers and of course with the help of local police who were patient in the entire process. Further, our women under Program Rooh – Awakening Women’s Soul are making bags from waste cloth materials which are being used in distributing ration and mask.

While distributing in Shamsher village, Uttar Pradesh we came across, Harikrishan who is working in nearby brick making factory and has a family 5 including him. When asked about his situation post lockdown to which he answers “First few days were sustainable with whatever resources were left after which I along with other brick factory workers went to our head to ask our advance salary”. He was happy receiving the Lakshyam’s aid. This is one story to share out there are many such individuals, families who are awaiting help from people like ours.

The need is to focus on being the ‘Daily Wagers’, who are dependent to go outside and earn a living. If one ever thought to help voluntarily now is the time. The time to act, the time to help we encourage every capable being to help communities, families to sustain them in these situations of atrocities. For, there is nothing greater than the happiness of giving, being the reason behind one’s smile. We earnestly request you to help us in this cause by contributing liberally with rations or through funds at Rupees 1000 per family and save precious lives. Donate rations or money transfer through Paytm at 9540120002 or transfer funds online on our website www.lakshyam.co.in.

Lakshyam NGO, India was established almost a decade ago in 2012 by a young social entrepreneur Ms Rashi Anand to work for the betterment of the society. Over the years more than seventy thousand lives have been impacted. There are three successful programs running under the Lakshyam banner i.e. Lakshyam Butterfly Program – Child Development and Education which is solely dedicated to holistic child development, Lakshyam Rooh – Awakening Women’s Soul a program which is dedicated to women to empower them and Lakshyam Toy Library aims to provide toys and books to each child.
“In last few days average number of query calls be it for ration or to go back to their village or medical emergency or domestic violence has increased tremendously, on an average 50 to 100 we are receiving. Following we are providing ration to areas where Lakshyam is working followed by other areas where the actual need is there!” Says Raashi Anand, founder Lakshyam

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone who has helped Lakshyam achieve its target. We hope to help more and more people in need.
