ST. JOHNS, Fla. - Dec. 16, 2019 - Residents of Beacon Lake, the lakefront lifestyle community in northern St. Johns County, recently collected and donated 575 pounds of non-perishable food items for Feeding Northeast Florida.
The collection took place at the community's Fall Festival, an event designed for neighbors and friends to get together and have fun while supporting a worthy cause. The donation helps provide more than 479 meals to hungry children, families, seniors and veterans in Northeast Florida who live with the hardships of food insecurity.
"As our residents demonstrated with their generosity and spirit of compassion, Beacon Lake is truly a community with heart," said Bruce J. Parker, Managing Director for BBX Capital Real Estate, Beacon Lake's master developer. "Through the food drive, we are able to help those in need and make their holidays a little brighter."
More than 150 Beacon Lake residents and friends attended the Fall Festival, where they enjoyed bounces houses and other inflatables, games for all ages, food trucks and more. Residents also enjoyed coming together to give back in a way that embodies Beacon Lake's heart and caring for others.
"We are very proud to give back and help others combat hunger by partnering with Feeding Northeast Florida," said Beacon Lake resident Thomas Cascini. "Beacon Lake is a special place to call home, and events like this are one of the many reasons my wife, Diane, and I love living here."
