Garth Brooks announced the addition of five more shows in Des Moines after fans scooped up more than 70,000 tickets in the first hour of sales. The country superstar will now play six shows at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, beginning April 29.
The Garth Brooks tour originally included a single show at the Wells Fargo Arena, scheduled for April 30 at 7 p.m. The show marked Brooks' first appearance in the Des Moines market in 23 years. The high demand for tickets forced the tour company to add five more shows, including two on April 29, a later show on April 30, and shows on May 1 and May 3. These six shows will be the only stops in Iowa, according to a press release. The singer has also added shows in Fargo, North Dakota, Columbus, Ohio and a number of other cities.
The [Garth Brooks World Tour](http://www.concertbank.com/concerts/garth-brooks-tickets) kicked off in late 2014, and marked a return to the stage after a 15-year absence from touring. Brooks has booked multiple nights in markets across the country, frequently selling out all nights in some of the largest, most popular venues in the nation. He is joined on stage by his wife, Trisha Yearwood, making the concert a two-fer must-attend for country fans.
Thanks in part to the tour, Brooks was at the top of Forbes' magazine's list of top country music earners in 2015, and was named Pollstar's top touring country artist in 2015. His earnings for 2015 were $90 million.
The tour has also been an enormous critical success, garnering rave reviews in markets as diverse as Boston, Arizona and Sunrise, Florida, where Brooks and Yearwood kicked off the massive tour. At a recent three-night outing in Worcester, Massachusetts, the reviews enthused that Brooks made up for his long absence from the touring circuit with an impeccably staged run through his classics," adding only a few of his newest songs for flavor. This is in keeping with his tour philosophy, often repeated to reporters along the tour route, that he gives fans what they want all their favorite songs. I hate it when I go to a show and the guy drops 14 new songs on you," Brooks told the Worcester crowd. We brought all our old stuff."
