Drawing on years of cross-functional experience serving the engine, machine, aftermarket, dealer and end-customer sides of the business, Mr. Bartelme excels as a strategy manager for Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD). Since joining Caterpillar Inc., he has become an expert in managing complex contract agreements. He created a new trading program and brokered a multi-million-dollar procurement of concrete aggregates and paving services with multiple contractors in exchange for new Cat® equipment to support the construction of IPSD's engine assembly plant in Seguin, Texas. Likewise, Mr. Bartelme negotiated Caterpillar's long-term contracts with the U.S. Government worth up to $2 billion in new product sales and equipment rentals, while ensuring compliance with the federal acquisition regulation.

A decorated U.S. Army veteran with overseas deployments to the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean, Mr. Bartelme served with distinction as a rifle platoon leader with the 25th Infantry Division, company executive officer with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, and company commander with the 3rd Infantry Division where he had responsibility for over 100 personnel and $50 million worth of combat equipment. During the early stages of his corporate career, Mr. Bartelme gained valuable expertise in procurement, supply chain management, and new product/technology development at Caterpillar. In addition to working as a six-sigma black belt and program manager in Power Systems Marketing Division, he served as a new product introduction coordinator, supplier development engineer, and commercial buyer for Fuel Systems Division.

An expert in his field, Mr. Bartelme holds certifications in production and inventory management and six-sigma process methodologies. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Master of Science in Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

Outside of work, Mr. Bartelme has contributed to his community through multiple leadership roles on the board of directors for Crittenton Centers, leading record-breaking fundraising campaigns supporting the Heart of Illinois United Way, and serving as a classroom teacher for Junior Achievement of Central Illinois. In recognition of his professional achievements, he won the Caterpillar Electric Power Dealer Advisory Team's Award for outstanding customer service, Caterpillar President's Award for the corporate AQI (Annual Quality Improvement) competition, and the Superior Supplier Gold Distinction Award from the Defense Logistics Agency. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in developing the historical baseline and reporting methodology for Cat and Perkins® engines in the first-ever public disclosure of estimated Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, which is a significant milestone in Caterpillar's sustainability journey to support a lower-carbon future. Looking ahead, Mr. Bartelme aims to continue fostering strategic M&A partnerships for Caterpillar Inc. through the energy transition.
